Need inspiration for online learning? Look to NJEA’s Classroom Close-up for ideas

For 25 years, Classroom Close-up NJ, NJEA’s Emmy Award-winning public television series brought innovative ideas, inspiring stories, and shared success stories from New Jersey’s public schools and the school employees who have made them the best in the nation.

As educators confront the challenge of remote instruction while continuing to address students’ physical, social, and emotional needs, Classroom Close-up can provide resources to assist them.

Using the search engine at the top of the page, look for topics or keywords that interest you, from kindergarten to environmental education to field trips to technology. The video clips are short – about five minutes each.

Here are some searches to get you started:

Want to know how NJ public schools have faced challenges before? Search for “Sandy” and learn more about educators’ response to Superstorm Sandy, and how communities came together to support each other.

Curious about bringing the outdoors in to your online students? Search for “environment” for a variety of stories related to the natural world.

Search for “music” for stories that will uplift and entertain and “art” for creative ideas to inspire you.

While the show is no longer producing new content, you can access all of the content on www.classroomcloseup.org, and even download segments and full episodes.

Classroom Close-up NJ continues to air on NJTV every Sunday at 7:30 a.m., 12:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.
