MCEA spreads cheer to area nursing homes

by Iris Tonti

With the help of Tony’s Farm Market and Garden stand in Robbinsville,  Mercer County Education Association (MCEA) member volunteers, community volunteers, and Hamilton Twp. Mayor Jeff Martin, recently foil wrapped 1600 pots of flowers and delivered them to staff and patients at six county nursing home facilities. This was a three day effort lead by MCEA President Grace Rarich and MCEA PRIDE Chair Debbie Baer. Funding was provided by NJEA through a PRIDE grant.

When delivering the flowers, we were met outside by the grateful and emotional staff who delivered them inside. I personally was told at two places how we had made them like their jobs again. Their difficult jobs go on, but hopefully the cheer of the live flowering plants will remind them that they are heroes and appreciated.
